These doctors see patients on an one-on-one basis, once to a few times a week, or asneeded by the patient. Alternative practitioners are people like yogis and acupuncturists who usemeditation and acupuncture to help patients. These people do not diagnose, but simply offer a solution todealing with stress and poor mental health problems. People with this viewpoint most often believe that the cause of women’s stress and mental health problems lie in the way we are raised and how we think.. T hey side on the “ Nurture ” side of the argument. “They want to keep everyone’s approval -that is part of how they know they are succeeding-and they cope with the demands by trying to do it all, often at a substantial cost to their emotional andphysical well-  being.” Braiker 14) These people believe the best way to deal with this stress is a completemental overall. A women has to learn to think differently. Dr. Lanoil believes that a three-point plan of dealing with the Female Stress Syndrome includes increasing a sense of control, encourageing realisticassessment, and improving problem solving skills (176) . So it’s basically teaching a woman to think  differently about themselves and how they deal with stress.Nature  Hardy 2 The main group who has this viewpoint consists of psychiatrists and other medical professionals likepharmacists. This doctors see the patients rarely, when the patient is suspected to have a mental healthproblem. They use daily medication to treat the patients. This medication uses hormones and chemical tocorrect the imbalances that cause stress and mental health disorders. Pharmacists have input on whatmedication and the dosage that a patients takes. People with this viewpoint believe that causes of women’s stress and mental health problems arebiological. They credit the symptoms and disorders to hormone levels and changes in them, chemical imbalances, and other biological malfunctions. They side with the “Nature” side of the argument.“ Studies suggest that an imbalance of certain substances called neurotransmitters (chemical messengers inthe brain) may contribute to anxiety disorders ”   (Simon, “Anxiety Disorders: Causes). These professionalbelieve that medicine is the answer to these problems. “Antidepressants were developed to tr  eatdepression but are also effective for anxiety disorders. Although these medications begin to alter brain chemistry after the very first dose” (NIMH, Anxiety Disorders)The SufferersThe group consists of the women who are affected by stress and mental health disorders, and thepeople around them. This includes women who struggle daily with the issue, and those who justoccasionally see symptoms. These are the people most involved and interested in the topic because forthem it is personal. This group of people has the largest investment in this conversation but the leastamount of knowledge. They seek help from both of the aforementioned groups, as well as religion, andpersonal relationships. They talk to therapists for understand, go to the doctor for medicine, pray to Godfor relief, and use friends and family as an escape.  Hardy 3 These women have little insight on what cause the stress and disorders that plague them. They do internetsearches, ask the people around them, talk to therapists, and ask do ctor’s to figure out what is cause the symptom that they are experiencing. The same effect goes for their opinion on how to deal with theseproblems. They look for outside expertise and advice to give them a solution to the problem.Works CitedBraiker, Harriet B.
